Letters to my girls

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Col. 3:23-24

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Cor. 10:31

What do these verses mean to you? Do you just work hard when you feel like it? Do you only do the things that you like to do? Do you only put effort into things that are easy? That’s not what these verses are saying at all. They are saying work hard ALL the time!!! BUT that’s not all they are saying! They are also saying do it for the Lord!

How can you apply to these verses to your life? Right now, your job is school. You both do well in school, that’s because you work hard! If you fooled around in school, and didn’t do your homework, or didn’t study, your grades would show it. Of course, some subjects aren’t easy and you might have to put more effort into them.

How about away from school? S, how about horse riding lessons and horse shows? You LOVE to do that! Sometimes it seems as if all you talk about is when you can go riding again. Does that mean that you love to muck the stalls? NO. When you don’t come in first place at a show, do you give up and quit? No! You keep going! You work hard! You keep practicing!

How about you, T? What about soccer? You seem to LOVE every minute of it! Even the running! You seem to have a ball attached to your feet at all times, EVEN IN THE HOUSE!!! 😉 What happens if you are sitting on the bench and not in the game? Does that mean you just sit there and wait until you can get in the game? NO!!!! You cheer your team on, like they have no other cheerleader on the field! You help motivate them, and keep them going! Cheer and yell and be the best team member!

What about me? Do I like to clean the house??? HA! You can answer that! 😉 I do like a clean house though, and I know the Lord put me in this house to take care of it.

Are these verses easy to follow? Definitely not! That’s where the “…do all to the glory of God” and “You are serving the Lord Christ” come in. When we remember what He has done for us, it is easier to “push” ourselves to do the things we don’t like to do.
Those verses mean, every time, every thing, every like and dislike, every move we make, and every minute of the day…Do it for HIM!
